25 June--Bravery Wort Transformation
Posted: Wed Jun 14, 2017 9:37 pm
The fine details have been worked out and we're ready to transform some wort!
Brian and co. at Bravery are going to cook BEAVR a batch of low-IBU 1.050-ish golden ale wort that we get to take home and transform. Vigorously dry-hop the wort, re-boil and add roasted grains, open-ferment a killer hefe, or even concoct your famed watermelon-saison. The door is open for weird and delicious creations.
We'll get together at the September meeting to share our creations at Bravery. A proprietor favorite will be chosen to be scaled up and served on tap.
Fermentation needs to accomplished with a single Whitelabs Saccharomyces strain, so no bugs or other yeast varieties. Special ingredients are welcome as long as it could easily be scaled up to a 3 bbl batch.
You'll need to bring a clean and sanitized stainless corny keg. No glass or plastic carboys/buckets per Brian's request. You can bring your keg in earlier if needed, just label it so Brian know who it belongs to.
Each brewer will bring home 5 gallons to change and make their own. Pickup your sweet wort at Bravery at 4 PM on Sunday, June 25th.
BEAVR members can come hangout during the brewday, Brian will be starting at 10am.
Let me know if you have any questions before we get this going.
A huge thanks to Brian for brewing great craft beer for the AV and for his continued support of BEAVR!
